Buying a Car from a Dealership in 2023

3 Things You NEED To Know Before Buying a Car From A Dealership in 2023

Buying a car from a dealership can seem less risky then buying a car privately but this isn't always the case here are some tips to help you when buying that fresh new or used motor

1a. Do your research

know the car you want to buy. I can’t stress this enough know the market value, know the spec of the car, know the history of the car, know the car!

knowing as much as POSSIBLE about the car

  • Ensures you are not getting a bad deal.
  • Can help you estimate how much maintenance cost you could incur in the future.
  • Can provide you with greater leverage when negotiating.

1b. Ways to research

After you see a nice car at the dealership, its worth going home and looking it up on gumtree, auto trader, and pretty much any website that sells cars, to determine the market value of the car. On the .gov website you can also look up the reg of the car to see if it is hpi Clear.

Now you can search for common problems on the make and model of the car on google, YouTube, car forums. Forums are great as there are many of experts out there that love to share their thoughts as well as facts on the car and how they are built.

I would even go as far as finding out who the manufacture of the various parts of the car are. A lot of can manufactures use interchangeable parts and share engine set ups.

2. HOLD BACK

For example, you're on a test drive and you are thinking to yourself “I really love this car”. Well its best to keep that thought to yourself and hold back from express how you feel about the car to the dealer, as it can leave you in a weaker negation position It is well known that you need to have a good poker face. This skill can help you a lot and not just when buying a car from the dealership!

3. DON’T TELL THE DEALER WHAT YOU WANT YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENT TO BE

When buying a car the dealership will most likely ask you what you want your monthly payment to be. The truth is they can make the monthly payments whatever you want them to be by stretching out the term. This is a trick dealers will use, to in essence take your eye off the ball.

Remember the car dealer is not your friend, so don’t let your guard down to much. Instead you want to go by the total sale price of the car. Car dealers have sales training so don’t make any quick decisions.
